their files with ease. Portfolio’s folder monitoring,
database management, thumbnail previews, streamlined cataloging
and much more take the grunt work out of getting organized
for workgroups.
Portfolio grows with your business. Workgroups of over ten
users should add Portfolio Server to the mix to share and
distribute catalogs with client/server speed. By adding the
optional Portfolio SQL Connect software (sold separately),
Portfolio Server can also connect to and serve as a front-end
for larger SQL databases.
Portfolio and Portfolio Server also provide robust scripting
capabilities for building custom solutions, database publishing,
Web publishing and more. Extensis offers Professional Services
for creating custom Portfolio solutions, including the Portfolio
Media Asset Management Solution and Portfolio Brand Resource
Management Solution.
Complete Scalability
Portfolio grows with your business, from a single user to
a small workgroup to an entire organization using client/server
access with both Macintosh and Windows clients. You can
start with two copies of the Portfolio client, add a few
more for some new users, and then add Portfolio Server when
larger groups of users need to access the same catalog without
loss of performance. Portfolio Server can be added at any
time into a network of existing Portfolio clients.
SQL Connectivity
Portfolio Server (for Windows) can connect to SQL databases,
providing access to larger, more powerful databases of valuable
assets. Supports Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, 7 and 2000, as
well as Oracle 8i.
Custom Workflow Solutions
Portfolio can be scripted using either AppleScript or Visual
Basic to create custom solutions.
FolderSync Synchronizes Portfolio with Files on Disk
FolderSync monitors when files are added, deleted or moved.
One click synchronizes your file system with your Portfolio
catalog, keeping you up-to-date with minimal effort. Organize
your files and folders directly within Portfolio or from
the operating system.
Streamlined Cataloging
Cataloging new items combines and streamlines several repetitive
tasks: move or copy file(s) to a new location, rename each
one, assign keywords and more, all in a single step.
Multiple Access Levels
Password-protect your catalog with four levels of access
control. You can also set access on a user-by-user basis.
Server Administration from the Portfolio Client
All Portfolio Server functions are administrated through
the client. There's no need to administer through the machine
running the server.
